North Thelon

Ownership: 100%
Stage: Prospective; Drill Ready
Size: 102,056 Ha
Location &
Infrastructure

The North Thelon project is located on the eastern margin of the Thelon Sandstone Basin, approximately 50km west of Baker Lake, Nunavut.

Regional
Significance
Discovered in 1975, the Kiggavik deposits were later acquired by AREVA. AREVA made application to develop the project, but without a definite start date and a development schedule, the project was unable to move forward, and the application was refused in 2016. Declining uranium prices resulted in AREVA placing the project on care and maintenance.
Proximity to
significant
deposits
Forum’s claims are located immediately to the south and along strike of the Kiggavik deposits. According to the AREVA’s Kiggavik website, there are approximately 44,000 tonnes of uranium ore reserves on the property.

Outlook:

  • Due to the Nunavut government decision to delay the development of AREVA’s Kiggavik deposits, Forum has placed the North Thelon project on care and maintenance until uranium prices recover.

Proposed Work Programs for 2019

  • None.

Historical Work

  • Exploration programs by Forum during the years 2007-2011 included: summer mapping, prospecting and ground gravity surveys followed by diamond drilling. A total of 12 holes for 2474m were completed and tested six different areas in the Company’s first pass drill campaign.
  • In 2009, a review of Forum’s geochemical database revealed the presence of Rare Earth Element (REE) anomalies. Re-sampling and mapping on localized outcrop was done. Values of up to 3.8% total rare earth oxides were returned.
  • In 2011 another exploration program completed gravity surveys on 4 new grids, detailed sampling on the REE showings and 9 diamond drill holes for 2,036m on three different targets.
  • A large and comprehensive series of gravity surveys have been completed over most of the priority areas, providing excellent targets for future exploration.
